TOP STORY — Romney’s campaign faces another distraction
In a video leaked to the press, Mitt Romney made several “off the cuff” remarks about 47% of the nation’s “dependence” on government. At a private fundraiser, Romney said 47% of the country will vote for President Obama no matter what, and feel entitled “to health care, to food, to housing, you name it.” The New York Times reports that as Romney tries to revitalize his campaign with a fresh start, this could get in the way.

U.S. Troops in Afghanistan ordered to scale back
After an increased amount of insider attacks in the country, and due to growing concern about the effects of the anti-Islam film controversy, U.S. troops have been ordered to scale back operations. This weekend, six international troops — including four American — were killed after Afghan forces opened fire, the Washington Post reports.

ROYALTY NEWS — William and Kate win French injunction over topless photos
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have won a lawsuit ordering a gossip magazine to not publish further photos of Kate Middleton sunbathing topless. Middleton, who was on a vacation, was caught by the paparazzi with a long-range camera. A separate investigation will look into whether the publication of the photos were a breach of privacy.
