A clash between politics and Hollywood is causing a race in North Carolina to get national attention.
B.J. Lawson, who is challenging U.S. Rep. David Price for the 4th district seat that represents Orange County, had been bragging about using actor Morgan Freeman’s familiar voice in his ad.
But Freeman, a democrat, was shocked when he heard of the ad, and in a statement, accused Lawson’s campaign of lying to voters.
“I have never recorded any campaign ads for B.J. Lawson and I do not support his candidacy. And, no one who represents me has ever authorized the use of my name, voice or any other likeness in support of Mr. Lawson or his candidacy,” he said.
The campaign responded by saying they hired a California-based political firm to produce the ad and were unaware that the company had used a “voice double” instead.
In Lawson’s defense, the voice double seems pretty spot on. See for youself:
