Why We’re “Carolina” and You’re Not

So apparently there’s a university down in South Carolina (cough cough USC) that has the AUDACITY to call themselves “Carolina.” We’re here to clear up this little matter, and explain, once and for all, why UNC is the only Carolina around.

1. So let’s start off with something a bit obvious. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill became the first public university in our great nation in 1789, 12 years before USC stepped on the scene.

2. UNC has won 40 NCAA team titles, while USC has won eight. GET ON OUR LEVEL.

3. Did the President and the First Lady drop by USC? No? Probably because they were too busy hanging out up here in Tar Heel Nation.

4. Michael Jordan. Mia Hamm. Andy Griffith. Ken Jeong. Jim Rash. We will out-alum USC any day.

5. Have you ever heard of Carolina Blue? I’ve certainly never heard of Carolina Black or Carolina Garnet.

6. What the heck is a Gamecock?

Conclusion: GO HEELS, GO AMERICA.
