Reasons to be glad prom season is over

If there’s one terribly pivotal and fascinatingly ordinary event we all remember from high school, it’s prom. The good news is we never have to go through the process ever again.

Look at the bright side:

1. You’re saving money

Hundreds and hundreds of dollars are spent on the promposal, the corsage, the dress, the pre-prom dinner and the transportation (and these are just the basics.) You could make a long list of beneficial things to buy with the money set aside for the prom. And trust me, whatever is on it will take you a lot further than this high school one night stand.

2. You’re eliminating emotional distress

Whether you have just been turned down by your biggest crush, haven't been asked to prom at all or are having a giant material meltdown prom is never drama free. There will be repercussions — some will wake you up the morning after.

3. You have free time!

Imagine all of the things you could be doing instead of investing so much time into one evening that is NOT as magical as they tell you it will be. You could be spending time with a person you actually care to be with (not a random prom date) or shopping for clothes you will actually wear (not single-use dust collectors.)

While prom is a high school must, all graduates should celebrate it as a hassle of the past.
