Voting was slow at the East Franklin precinct poll as of noon, officials said.

Forty residents had voted at the precinct, according to election officials.

Voters cast their ballots for mayor, town council candidates, school board officials and voted on the quarter-cent sales tax increase referendum.

Iris Schwintzer, chief judge of the precinct, said she isn’t surprised that things are moving so slowly.

“It’s always slow when we just have the local elections,” she said.
