Late night dance party: best of February police reports

The police reports from Carrboro and Chapel Hill are often filled with unusual crimes. A handful of recent ones include:

On Feb. 1, someone just wanted a late-night snack.

Someone trespassed at Hot Dogs & Brew at 169 E. Franklin St. at 2:26 a.m. Friday, according to Chapel Hill police reports.

On Feb. 2, someone wanted to make some upgrades to their car.

Someone shoplifted from Advance Auto Parts at 1744 Fordham Blvd. at 5:58 p.m. Saturday, according to Chapel Hill police reports. The person grabbed a car cover and floor mats and ran out of the store, reports state. Stolen items were valued at $110, according to reports.

On Feb. 4, someone decided to re-live their childhood and take a ride on a scooter.

Someone stole a scooter at 1100 N.C. Highway 54 at 7:18 p.m. Monday, according to Chapel Hill police reports. The person cut the chain off the locked scooter, valued at $300, reports state.

On Feb. 13, someone decided to steal — a very expensive toothbrush?

Someone shoplifted from Walgreens at 1500 E. Franklin St. between 2:45 p.m. and 2:50 p.m. Wednesday, according to Chapel Hill police reports. The person stole three toothbrushes, valued at $79, reports state.

On Feb. 13, people made the most of their Wednesday night with a Stevie Wonder dance party.

Someone reported loud music coming from a party at 200 Barnes St. at 12:29 a.m. Wednesday, according to Carrboro police reports. The officer on the scene heard Stevie Wonder’s “Isn’t She Lovely” playing on the radio, reports state

On Feb. 18, a burglar prepared himself for a trip to the arcade.

Someone burglarized a residence at 616 Churchhill Drive between 11:07 and 11:17 p.m. Monday, according to Chapel Hill police reports. The person stole 20 rolls of quarters, valued at $1, reports state.
