Parents get advice about internet safety

As parents grapple with how to protect their children from the dangers of the internet, Chapel Hill and Carrboro City Schools work to educate students and parents about internet safety. At a meeting Monday, CHCCS and the Chapel Hill Police Department hosted an Internet Family Safety Night to discuss issues regarding children’s use of the internet, including social media, online predators and sexting.


Public hearing addresses West Rosemary Street Marriott hotel

Chapel Hill Town Council held a public hearing Monday night to discuss plans for a new hotel on West Rosemary Street, among other issues. writer's notes and chapel hill agenda viewer Developers of the hotel brought forth their application along with resolutions to begin construction on a four-story hotel on the corner of West Rosemary Street and Church Street. The hotel would be a Marriott hotel based after hotels in Mediterranean Europe known as the AC. 


Orange County’s two school districts team up in fight for funding

Members of the Orange County Board of Commissioners and the county’s two school districts met Tuesday night to discuss the districts’ proposals on how to best improve their schools. “We are united in a common cause — to collaborate on the education of young people in Orange County, despite what’s going on in Raleigh,” Board chair Earl McKee said to open the meeting.
