Sarah Scarborough has an alarm set for 7 a.m. She hits snooze until 9, then attends her online classes, Diet Coke in hand. It gets dark, but she’s not tired yet since she still has some pent up energy considering she’s not walking to classes these days. Motivation during the day has been low, so she has enough work to keep her occupied until she falls asleep at 2 or 3 a.m. Rinse and repeat.

The stage on Dec. 7, 2020 was booked for Microwave. The four-man rock band out of Atlanta was set to perform at Local 506, an all-ages rock club on Franklin Street.

Faculty and staff of the UNC music department introduced "Do the Work Wednesdays," a weekly series that highlights anti-racism work being done in the department. It came after the department spent the summer reflecting on their internal systemic racism and ways to enact meaningful change.

This time last year, visitors from across the state and beyond were arriving in Orange County for the annual studio tours put on by the Orange County Artists Guild. They bounced around from studio to studio, and maybe capped the day with a visit to one of the several local restaurants that sponsored the event.
