Courtney Staton, a senior photojournalism and psychology student and NeXt Doc Fellow, in Carroll Hall Saturday, March 24, 2019. Staton was one of the individuals who spoke out against the misrepresentation of students of color in the documentary known as The Commons. The Commons is a documentary film which focused on protests surrounding the Silent Sam confederate statue, but following the films unveiling many felt that the representation of the protests were disproportionate and did not accurately portray the individuals involved. Several of the individuals who were featured prominently in the film were not aware that they were being featured and did not consent to taking being shown in the film.

Holden Cox, a junior exercise and sports science major, is one of a few students who serves as a mentor for the Minority Advising Program. The program focuses on connecting minority first-year and transfer students with mentors who help them find resources to enhance their college experience and further adjust to life at UNC. Many of the resources suggested by the mentors stem from the Learning Center which provides general aid to UNC students to promote academic success.

Members of the NC General Assmbly are pushing for an increase in the state's living wage. This increase would bring the minimum wage to $15 and comes with a proposed plan to increase the minimum wage gradually towards $15 over a 5 year period.

Vasco Evtimov, 41, left UNC for a professional career in 1999 after just 38 games. The 6-foot-10 former McDonald's All-American played in 10 countries before returning to North Carolina to complete his degree.

Vasco Evtimov, 41, is set to graduate in May with a communications degree. "It's really interesting learning about different ideas and how to set up young individuals coming out of college, what to expect when they get a job," he said his major. "Really prepares you for it. And it's really interesting for me."
