Bartlett Tree Experts cut and trimmed trees on S. Estes across from University Mall. They are clearing the area to install fiber optic power cables. The trees are chopped up and turned into mulch or taken to a recycling center. Tim Horton of Bartlett Tree Experts trims the trees to clear the area for new fiber optic cables.

Teach for America- Career Services and Jacqueline Gist hosted a workshop to help students applying for Teach for America. Interviews will be from March 9-18. Gist encouraged students to choose a simple lesson plan and demonstrate their best behavior throughout the entire interview process including the group activity. Jobs and Geography- Career Services hosted a "Jobs and Geography" workshop, which advised students on the best places to live as a college graduate. Sharon Jones stressed the importance of finding a city tailored to your interests. "Cities have personalities," she said.

Chris Carter, a first generation college student, is the first UNC student to receive the Gates Cambridge Scholarship. This merit based award allows him to complete a nine month Latin American studies Master's program in Cambridge. He is a double political science and history major with a minor in English. His extensive travels in Ecuador, Chile and Argentina as a Morehead Scholar contributed to his interest in Latin American studies.
Seymour Hersh, the Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist, discusses Obama and Bush foreign policy. He has published eight books and exposed the My Lai massacre in 1969 and the Abu Ghraib prison scandal in 2004. His lecture was titled "A Report from Washington on the Obama/Bush Foreign Policy"

The session focused mainly on preventing underage alcohol sales and spotting fake ID's. Investigator Debbie Timmons shows Steve Woodham, owner of Good Fellows and co-owner of Four Corners, and his co-worker Ashley Curcio a variety of fake and altered ID's. "I pick up something new every time. Things are always changing," said Woodham, who has attended several trainings sponsored by the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement Division.
