UNC receives energy from the Cogeneration Plant on its campus as well as from Duke Energy.
(From left) Junior Brooke Bauman, an environmental science major, senior Evelyn Morris, an economics major and senior Megan Raisle, a geography and environmental studies major, bike outside the Campus Y during a sign-making event on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019. They will participate in the Triangle Climate Strike on Friday. Raisle will lead the bike ride from Chapel Hill to the location of the strike. The event is part of a global protest calling for action toward climate change. Participants are encouraged to bike, walk, or use other environmentally-friendly methods to go to the event.
