Natalie the pit bull enjoys PrideFest at Duke University this weekend. 

Pups show pride alongside humans at NC Pride

Natalie, a portly white pit bull, waddled over the grass of Duke University’s verdant East Campus Saturday in a pair of purple satin pixie wings. Her head was as wide as a shovel and her mouth could swallow your hand whole, but for such a powerful beast she glanced around with an almost childlike exuberance, her thick pink tongue unfurled, her amber eyes giddy and ecstatic at all the attention and head pats she was receiving.

La Residence will reopen in December following electrical fire

According to the official Chapel Hill Fire Department report, a Chapel Hill police officer on patrol reported fire and smoke coming from the site at approximately 6 a.m. Responders managed to put out the fire within 40 minutes. The fire damaged half of the kitchen, and smoke damage to the rest of the site was extensive.
