Don't let voter fatigue catch you in the ballot box today, Orange County

Ever heard of "choice fatigue?" Well, if you're a voter this season, you might be catching it. This year's ballot is packed with decisions to make, including the six constitutional amendments and 16 races in which candidates are running.  As voters parse through the issues, the danger of waning attention span means that fewer votes make a swing vote more impactful. Some also say that placing important issues at the end of the ballot rigs the vote in favor of whichever party wants a lack of scrutiny on the final items. But how much of this could actually sway the 2018 election?

Here's what upward mobility looks like in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro area

The Center for Economic Studies released a report last month studying the economic development that people go through from their childhood to their 30s. When it comes to Chapel Hill and Carrboro, the results were a little divided. Black children born to parents in the bottom quintile of household income have a 2.5 percent chance of raising to the top quintile of household income, compared with 10.6 percent for whites, according to the report.

Nobody actually knows who owns the Jefferson Davis marker on Franklin Street

The Orange County Board of Commissioners voted on Oct. 16 to repeal a 1959 resolution to name U.S. Highway 15 as Jefferson Davis Highway after several residents began questioning the name. But does the BOC have the jurisdiction to change the name, or does that fall under the University, the Town of Chapel Hill or the North Carolina Department of Transportation? And who put up the marker just outside McCorkle Place?
