Marty Hanks, the creator of "Just Bee Apiary," a bee farm located on his land just outside of downtown Chapel Hill, checks on his honeybees. Hanks makes it a priority to raise his thousands of bees without the use of unnatural chemicals.

A canvas tarp protected the elegant carpeting of the Carolina Inn’s North Parlor Thursday morning as employees painted wooden boxes that will house the inn’s starter bee colonies.

Carolina Inn seeks new general manager

The Carolina Inn is searching for a new general manager after its long-time manager, Creston Woods, departed on Jan. 12. Woods, who oversaw the hotel’s operations for 13 years, said his parting ways with the Carolina Inn was a mutual decision.
