Kenan Theatre Company prepares for fall production in memory of Lillian Chason

The Chason production, a theater performance coming to Kenan Theatre Company, is much more than just an opportunity for young dramatic arts students to work with a professional director.  The Lillian Chason Excellence Fund and the Lillian Chason Scholarship bring a new show each fall in memory of Lillian Chason, an aspiring actress and fine arts student who died at the age of 18, before she could fulfill the leading role in her first-ever production.

PlayMakers' professors balance the art and the classroom

Life is a balancing act, and that is a concept that members of Playmakers Repertory Company know all too well. “Every week is something new,” acting teacher and PlayMakers Company member Samuel Ray Gates said. “I remind myself to take it one day at a time, doing what needs to be done everyday. Playwright professor finds his creative home in Chapel Hill

Mark Perry is not a native North Carolinian. After years in the state he has fallen in love with the cast of characters surrounding him in the college town of Chapel Hill. The Dramatic Arts lecturer  has been teaching at UNC since 2005 where he started with a single class.  After a couple of years, he started teaching playwriting.
