Williamson Decision Pleases Psychiatrists
By Karey Wutkowski | Jan. 9, 2001Physicians are breathing a sigh of relief after the state Court of Appeals overturned a jury verdict that held the psychiatrist who treated former UNC law student Wendell Williamson liable for Williamson's 1995 shooting spree on Henderson Street.The unanimous Dec. 19 ruling overturned the 1998 jury decision that found former Student Health Service psychiatrist Myron Liptzin negligent in his treatment of Williamson, who has been diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic.
