TO THE EDITOR:Josh Baylin and Eugene Kim have what it takes to be great senior class officers next year.I have had the pleasure to work with both of these individuals and have seen first hand the type of hard work and creativity that these two can bring to elected office. With Josh Baylin's help, the North Carolina Center for Economic Empowerment, a student-run nonprofit organization, went from a great idea to a successful reality.Because of Eugene Kim's participation in the Great Decision Lecture Series, the program has reached new heights of success.

Police Make 2nd Arrest in Postgame Vandalism

Chapel Hill police have arrested a second UNC student in connection with vandalism that occurred on Franklin Street after the North Carolina-Duke basketball game.Robert Houston Davenport III, 18, turned himself in to police Monday. Davenport, who lives at 609 Morrison Residence Hall, is being charged with one count of felony rioting.

Four of the five student body president candidates eliminated in last week's election have lent their support to candidate Justin Young in today's runoff.Former candidates Dustyn Baker, Correy Campbell, Annie Peirce and Caleb Ritter endorsed Young, although he and opponent Eric Johnson both solicited their support.All the former candidates who endorsed Young commented on his personality and his ability to keep the election scene enjoyable. Forum Addresses Transportation Needs

Several N.C. officials, including local legislators, discussed the future of transportation in the state before a small lunchtime crowd Monday at the UNC School of Law.The event was the first in a series of 21st Century North Carolina Forums sponsored by the Sanford Society, a student organization that promotes progressive public policies.Jamie Cox, Sanford Society president, said the forum's purpose was to discuss how transportation must change to meet the state's new needs.

I have been reading up on all of the candidates, attending forums and watching for their presence on campus. From my research, I have come to one conclusion: The Ben Singer/Ursula Dimmling campaign for senior class office is the most underrated and unappreciated campaign this year.

Changes Proposed for N.C. Marriage Laws

Several N.C. marriage laws, which have not been reformed since 1903, could soon become part of history.The proposed changes would recognize marriages of different races and also close a legal loophole sometimes used to defend statutory rape.
