Aiding the Chapel Hill-Carrboro food desert

In Chapel Hill, 19,000 people live in food deserts, the majority in areas around Franklin Street. Several nonprofits in and around Chapel Hill are pushing programs to help alleviate the issue.

What's next for Chapel Hill's affordable housing bond?

After the vote to pass Chapel Hill's affordable housing bond, the Town has begun putting efforts into increasing more affordable housing. The Town is looking to transition people from shelters to new housing  as soon as possible, while also using funds for other related projects.

The marker honoring the president of the Confederate States of America is located at the intersection of Henderson and Franklin streets, a few feet away from McCorkle Place.

Nobody actually knows who owns the Jefferson Davis marker on Franklin Street

The Orange County Board of Commissioners voted on Oct. 16 to repeal a 1959 resolution to name U.S. Highway 15 as Jefferson Davis Highway after several residents began questioning the name. But does the BOC have the jurisdiction to change the name, or does that fall under the University, the Town of Chapel Hill or the North Carolina Department of Transportation? And who put up the marker just outside McCorkle Place?
