Firefighters wear pink for women's health

A slew of pink-clad firefighters and police officers driving pink firetrucks and police vehicles took over Chapel Hill Tuesday in support of Pink Heals, a national nonprofit organization focused on raising money for women’s health.

Orange County health officials offer drug disposal program

After more than 100 people visited the emergency room for accidentally overdosing on prescription medication in 2012, Orange County health officials are looking to curb prescription drug abuse by offering people a free and easy way to dispose of medications they no longer use.

A year ago on Friday, two cyclists were struck and killed on 15-501. In memorial, their friends painted two bicycles and rode out to the site to decorate them. Jason Merrill, from Back Alley Bikes, painted the two bicycles and helped to organize the ride. He explained that "anytime cyclists are struck, it definitely hits close to home."

Cyclists honor hit-and-run victims

To remember the two victims of a hit-and-run accident a year ago on U.S. Highway 15-501, local cyclists held a group ride Friday evening to replace painted white “ghost bikes” to mark the site of the accident.
