Maya Little speaks at the Peace and Justice Plaza on Monday August 21st against confederate monument Silent Sam. Maya had been previously arrested for her demonstrations against Silent Sam.

Maya Little denies organizing Silent Sam protest

At the protest against Silent Sam on Monday, August 20, Maya Little gave remarks before the group marched on McCorkle Place, and hours later, removed the statue from its pedestal. She spoke about her experience with police at previous protests, as well as her continued dissent of the Confederate monument on campus. The next day, she spoke with The Daily Tar Heel about her relationship with protesters, her criminal and honor court charges and her next steps.

Board of Trustees reviews state of UNC

The Board of Trustees met in full on Thursday, September 28, to discuss tension on campus, hear budget proposals and give the state of the University thus far. The meeting began remarks from the student body president and the chairperson, including a standing ovation for the existing provost and the introduction of the newly hired Bob Blouin.

Student government isn’t exactly starting from scratch — but the books are being rewritten. Along with the new constitution that accompanied the arrival of the Elizabeth Adkins administration, a revised Student Code is about to take hold as well.

Company Carolina's production of "The Producers" is being held at Historic Playmakers' Theater this weekend.

Company Carolina presents The Producers

Company Carolina is performing the 1968 musical comedy, The Producers this weekend at the Historic Playmakers Theatre in its 23rd year of production. The student-led theater group performs five to seven shows each year, stage manager Erik Koehler said.

It was Friday, March 18, 1977. Jimmy Carter was president, and the top hit on the radio was Barbra Streisand’s “Evergreen,” the theme song from the 1976 film “A Star is Born.”
