UNC announces revised COVID-19 community standards effective July 12

Starting July 12, revised COVID-19 community standards will go into place. These include new mask requirements, classroom occupancy changes and changes to the Carolina Together Testing Program. 

UNC medical director elaborates on vaccine requirement decision for fall semester

In the fall, UNC students who are vaccinated will not be required to participate in asymptotic testing. Dr. Amir Barzin, the medical director of the Family Medicine Center & UNC Urgent Care at the Family Medicine Center, said UNC made the decision based on CDC recommendations and based on data from the spring.

In an effort to provide vaccination to as many people as possible, family and household members of UNC students, post-docs and employees can now get vaccinated at the Carolina Vaccination Clinic. 

Indoor mask mandate will be lifted once two-thirds of N.C. adults are vaccinated

Starting Friday, masks will no longer be required outdoors, and mass gathering limits in N.C. will increase to 100 indoors and 200 outdoors.

UNC part of national trial to study Moderna vaccine's impact on COVID-19 transmission

The University will be one of 27 study sites across the nation part of Prevent COVID U — a study that will be offering the Moderna vaccine to over 12,000 college students nationwide. The program hopes to test the transmission rate of COVID-19 among vaccinated individuals with Moderna vaccine.  Over 600 UNC students will be part of the study, which will take place over four months.
