Report filed for alleged football team assault

More than two weeks after four football players were suspended for violating a team policy when they were accused of assaulting a redshirt freshman on the team, the Department of Public Safety has acknowledged the incident might have occurred.

Armed robbery reported on campus

An armed robbery occurred on campus near Memorial Hall around 11 p.m. on Friday, according to an Alert Carolina email sent to students early Saturday morning.Two armed men approached the victims near Memorial Hall, demanded their wallets and iPhones and pushed them to the ground, the email said.

Warrants issued in SECU assault

UNC’s Department of Public Safety issued warrants Sunday for the arrest of Rafael Gaona Sierra after a sexual assault was reported at the State Employees Credit Union Family House last week.

Student Stores thefts may be linked

UNC’s Department of Public Safety sent out an Alert Carolina message Monday seeking information related to two incidents at UNC Student Stores: a larceny on April 4 and an attempted larceny on Aug. 30.

Drill tests emergency response

The University held hostages in Davis Library Wednesday. The situation was simulated — part of a larger effort to help increase security on campus. But the drill presented an opportunity for students, faculty and officials to learn how to respond to a potential campus crisis.
