No. 1 UNC women's lacrosse captures NCAA title with 12-11 defeat of No. 3 Boston College

No. 1 UNC women's lacrosse capped off an undefeated season with an NCAA title thanks to Sunday's 12-11 win over No. 3 Boston College. Graduate goalkeeper Taylor Moreno had 11 saves and graduate attacker Sam Geiersbach led the team with three goals to capture the championship trophy. The national championship is the third of head coach Jenny Levy's career, and the Tar Heels completed the first perfect season in NCAA Division I since 2017.

East Chapel Hill High School student announced as finalist in national science competition

Pristine Onuoha, a junior at East Chapel Hill High School, was announced as one of the finalists for the Genes in Space challenge hosted by Boeing and miniPCR bio.  For this national competition, students must design an experiment that relates to an issue about spaceu2019s effect on DNA. The winning proposed experiment will be tested on the International Space Station. Onuoha's proposed experiment would analyze the relationship between stem cell populations and telomere length in the white blood cells of astronauts.

UNC baseball pitcher Max Carlson dominates Clemson in ACC Championship pool play win

On Tuesday night, the No. 8 seeded Diamond Heels made their first appearance in Charlotte, N.C. at the 2022 ACC Baseball Championship. With a commanding 9-2 victory over the No. 12 seeded Clemson Tigers, names like redshirt junior Angel Zarate, sophomore Hunter Stokely, and junior Danny Serretti cover the game’s offensive statistics. However, on the defensive side, one name from Tuesday stands out above the rest — Max Carlson.
