Hubert Davis

Hubert Davis is the head coach of North Carolina men's basketball team. On April 5, 2021, the team announced Hubert would be taking over as head coach following the retirement of Roy Williams. Davis is the 20th coach in program history and the team's first Black head coach. He played under Dean Smith, had a 12-year career in the NBA and spent nine years on Williams' coaching staff.

Reviewing the senior seasons of UNC men's basketball’s incoming recruiting class

North Carolina head coach Hubert Davis Davis’ ability as a recruiter will be tested in the upcoming season as his first recruiting class steps foot in the Dean E. Smith Center.  According to 247 Sports, the four-man 2022 recruiting class is ranked 15th in the country and third in the conference behind Duke and Virginia.  Seth Trimble, Tyler Nickel, Jalen Washington and Will Shaver will arrive in Chapel Hill looking to provide more depth to last season’s shallow bench rotation.

UNC will hire Hubert Davis to be its new men's basketball head coach

Hubert Davis will be the new head coach of the North Carolina men's basketball team, the Raleigh News & Observer reported on Monday. Davis, an assistant coach on Roy Williams' bench for the past nine years and a player at UNC under Dean Smith from 1988-1992, will ascend to the position after Williams announced his retirement on April 1. He will be the first Black head coach in program history.
