No. 10 UNC men's lacrosse drops home game to No. 3 Virginia, 19-12

After losing to Duke and Ohio State who are both ranked within the top 25, this was the perfect opportunity for UNC to prove itself against one of the top-ranked teams in the country. With the Tar Heels being unable to secure a win, questions concerning offensive capabilities that have plagued earlier losses this season return to the forefront.

Andrew Tyeryar's big day on offense helps carry UNC men's lacrosse to 19-6 win over Brown

Being a face-off specialist, Tyeryar’s primary responsibility is to win the faceoff, pass the ball to someone to start the offense, and then get off the field. In his 41 previous games with the Tar Heels, he had scored a goal in six of them but had never had a multi-game goal. Against the Bears, Tyeryar scored three times, getting his first hat trick since high school.

UNC men's lacrosse dominates Mercer in season opener, 25-3

The win sets up the Tar Heels nicely for a difficult opening stretch of the season. Three consecutive road match-ups with Johns Hopkins, Ohio State, and Syracuse are all on the docket for UNC in the next two weeks, who will look to improve on their 19th ranking in Inside Lacrosse’s initial 2023 poll.
