A look back at the only two triple doubles in North Carolina basketball history

It's been almost two decades since two UNC players accomplished a feat that hasn't been duplicated since.

Wednesday marks the 19-year anniversary of Brendan Haywood’s triple-double against Miami on Dec. 4, 2000: 18 points, 14 rebounds and a school-record 10 blocks. Two games later, against Buffalo, Jason Capel matched his teammate with 16 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists on Dec. 17.

In 109 seasons of North Carolina basketball, nobody’s done it before that 13-day stretch. Or since.

Recap: Comeback effort falls short as UNC loses to Michigan in Battle 4 Atlantis

A furious comeback effort fell short for the No. 6 North Carolina men's basketball team (5-1), which fell to Michigan (6-0) on Thursday, 73-64, in the semifinals of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament.  The Tar Heels trailed by as much as 24 in the second half and cut the deficit to single digits late, but it proved too little, too late to prevent the team's first loss of the 2019-20 season.
