Police Log for May 27, 2010

— A 16-year-old Chapel Hill male was arrested on felony charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver of 2.6 grams of crack cocaine and 20.9 grams of marijuana at 9:48 p.m. Monday, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Shaquille Oneill Davis was taken to Orange County Jail in lieu of a $6,000 secured bond, reports state.

— An 18-year-old man was arrested on one count of misdemeanor shoplifting at 7:03 p.m. Friday at 201 S. Estes Drive, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Taevon Keith Weeks was observed by store employees and security guards at Burlington Shoes concealing a pair of U.S. Polo shoes in his book bag, reports state. The shoes, worth $19.99, were recovered.

Somebody filled pre-purchased bags with food and wine and left Whole Foods between 3:30 and 3:35 p.m. Friday at 82 Elliott Road, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Items stolen and recovered include $143 worth of wine and $39 worth of food, reports state.

A 34-year-old Chapel Hill man was arrested for carrying a concealed handgun at 9:02 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of N.C. 54 Bypass and South Columbia Street, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Matthew Dean Johnson was charged after being stopped for an inspection violation and released, reports state.

Someone stole another person’s wallet and used his credit cards between 7:23 p.m. Tuesday and 1:41 p.m. Wednesday at 1720 N. Fordham Blvd., according to Chapel Hill police reports. The person stole $200 in cash, as well as three credit and debit cards, an N.C. driver’s license and the $50 leather wallet, reports state.

There will be a gang of shooters on campus Wednesday at the Outdoor Education Center. Luckily, they will all be actors. EnviroSafe Consulting and Investigations Inc. is conducting a practice exercise without real weapons to put UNC’s emergency response plans to the test.

A 39-year-old Chapel Hill man was arrested on felony charges of robbery, possession of stolen goods and speeding to elude law enforcement as well as misdemeanor charges of driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest and two counts of failure to appear in court at 12:22 p.m. Saturday at Old Oxford East in Chapel Hill, according to Chapel Hill police reports.

Three Durham men were arrested on felony charges of breaking and entering a vehicle Friday in related incidents, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Saul Benitez-Benitez, 23, received an additional felony charge possession of stolen goods and a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest and was arrested at 3:40 p.m. at the intersection of Franklin Street and Roosevelt Drive, reports state.

Three cars were broken into and several items were stolen between 10 p.m. Sunday and 8:46 a.m Monday on Pinegate Circle, according to Chapel Hill police reports. Someone stole $400 in radio equipment and a $400 speaker box from a Honda Accord, reports state. A Volkswagen Jetta was damaged and $250 in radio equipment was taken, reports state.
