A look back at the only two triple doubles in North Carolina basketball history

Wednesday marks the 19-year anniversary of Brendan Haywood’s triple-double against Miami on Dec. 4, 2000: 18 points, 14 rebounds and a school-record 10 blocks. Two games later, against Buffalo, Jason Capel matched his teammate with 16 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists on Dec. 17. In 109 seasons of North Carolina basketball, nobody’s done it before that 13-day stretch. Or since.

UNC rowing head coach resigns amid Title IX investigation

Sarah Haney’s resignation came five days after The Daily Tar Heel obtained, through an anonymous source close to the program, an email from athletic director Bubba Cunningham that confirmed the existence of a University Title IX office investigation into the rowing program. The investigation follows complaints made by student-athletes against Haney, the head coach since 2002, and assistant head coach Anthony Brock, including alleged emotional abuse, injury negligence and sexual harassment, according to the person close to the program and a group of five current rowers, all of whom were granted anonymity by the DTH.

Recap: UNC football overwhelms N.C. State 41-10 to close out regular season

In a game that would decide the Tar Heels' postseason fate, the North Carolina football team pulled out a dominant victory over rival N.C. State on Saturday, 41-10.  Thanks to a 28-point third quarter, the Tar Heels (6-6, 3-3 ACC) put away the Wolfpack (4-8, 1-6 ACC) and earned bowl eligibility for the first time since 2016.
