Coming off two come-from-behind victories against ACC foes, the No. 9 North Carolina men's basketball team gets a respite from conference play when it faces off with Marquette on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Smith Center.The game will be televised on ABC.Marquette (7-2, 2-0 in Conference USA) beat Cincinnati 47-44 on Wednesday but is 0-2 in nonconference road games this season. Peppers Decides To Stay in School For `1 More Year'

Julius Peppers announced Thursday that he will not leave school after his sophomore season and enter this year's NFL Draft. UNC Hires Bunting to Replace Torbush

The search lasted 21 days, but Dick Baddour finally got his man.Baddour, North Carolina's director of athletics, joined Chancellor James Moeser in introducing John Bunting as the school's new football coach Monday.The announcement at a 5 p.m. press conference in the Bowles Room signified a homecoming for Bunting, who was a standout linebacker at UNC from 1969-71."I owe an awful lot to North Carolina," Bunting said. UNC Athletes Earn Postseason Honors

From Staff ReportsNorth Carolina men's soccer players Chris Carrieri and Danny Jackson were named to the 2000 National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-America Team. Carrieri, who led the nation in scoring this season, was named to the first team. Jackson, the leader of the Tar Heel defense, was named to the third team. Carrieri, the ACC Player of the Year, set UNC school records for goals and points in a season this fall. He led the ACC in points (64), goals (25), scoring (2.67 points per game) and goals per game (1.04).

Erndl, a junior on the men's swimming team, has started out the year at a scorching pace. Thus far, Erndl has tied the fastest time in UNC history in one event and equaled the sixth-fastest time in another.

The North Carolina men's basketball team will take on Texas A&M in Houston on Saturday.The game will be televised by Fox Sports Net at 9 p.m. EST.The No. 14 Tar Heels (4-2) are coming off a 67-45 victory against Miami (Fla.) on Monday night.
