Christopher Everett elected as 2023-2024 UNC student body president

Christopher Everett has been elected to serve as the 2023-2024 Student Body President, the the UNC Board of Elections announced around 2:16 a.m. Wednesday morning. Everett received 57.45 percent of the overall vote, defeating fellow certified candidate TJ Edwards and write-in candidate Theodore Nollert, who announced his intent to run last week.  "I just really want this win to be for everyone who's felt so unseen, undervalued and targeted by the institutions," Everett said

Vann says Robinson supreme court nomination isn't official; Senate speaker says it is

Student Body President Taliajah "Teddy" Vann said she does not recognize her nomination of former Student Body Vice President Sam Robinson to serve on the UNC Student Supreme Court to be official. Undergraduate Senate Speaker Christian Phillips said in response to Vann's most recent letter that nominations submitted to the Senate in previous years did not require extensive documentation, or even a signed document. The process to potentially confirm Robinson is still ongoing, and the Senate will likely discuss his nomination during its next scheduled meeting.

UNC students participate in first Redirect the Rage rally to protest overturning of Roe v. Wade

On Sunday, UNC students participated in Redirect the Rage, a rally hosted by the UNC Undergraduate Student Government and several other student organizations to protest the overturning of Roe v. Wade.  Students made posters at the Old Well and marched down East Cameron Avenue and Raleigh Street to the Pit. Chants such as "My body, my choice," and "I've been mad for too many days, time to redirect the rage!" rang out through the streets.

'Do your personal best': Richards looks back on his term, gives advice to next SBP

Junior Lamar Richards' term as student body president will come to an end in April. As the junior public policy and human organizational leadership and development double major reflected on his time in office, he wants to share a message with the UNC community. “Measure failure only in the context of things that you did not attempt," Richards said. "Always keep that in mind. You don’t have to succeed, but you have to try.”
