UNC School of Law

UNC School of Law was founded in 1845 and has been approved by the American Bar Association since 1928. It is home to centers and initiatives that offer expertise in civil rights, banking, environmental law, intellectual property, entrepreneurial and securities law, critical studies, bankruptcy and constitutional inquiry. There are approximately 740 students enrolled currently, and the school has about 10,000 living alumni.

UNC law school facing declining application rates

UNC’s School of Law is experiencing the same decline in application rates that are affecting the rest of the law schools in the country.  The school had 1,442 applicants to class of 2018, extended 643 offers and ended up with 224 matriculants.  Bianca Mack, assistant dean for admissions, attributes the decline in applicants to several factors, including a surplus of recent law graduates crowding the job market.  “I think a couple things have happened over the years.

On November 19th UNC held a town hall meeting on race and inclusion at the university.

Law school responds to students

In response to a letter submitted by UNC School of Law students on Friday, law school administrators announced Monday that they will assemble a task force designed to improve the lack of inclusion and diversity within the school.
