UNC women's lacrosse team advances to quarterfinals of NCAA Tournament

With 17:46 left in the first half of Sunday's second-round NCAA Tournament game, Virginia turned the ball over. Lauren Martin, a first-year defender, stepped out of bounds while cradling the it. North Carolina’s Sammy Jo Tracy took it on the change of position. She then had a choice: try to send a difficult pass to Carly Reed, streaking down the middle of the field with no one ahead of her, or just pull back and play it safe.

UNC women's lacrosse blows past Virginia Tech 14-6

The circumstances were unusual, but the end result was not. The second-ranked North Carolina women’s lacrosse team was victorious once again Tuesday, defeating No. 12 Virginia Tech 14-6 on the road in a game played inside the Hokies’ indoor practice facility due to bad weather in the area.
