Season ends in NCAA Sweet 16 for UNC women's soccer

  The crowd collectively held its breath as the ball rolled past the goalie and tumbled into the back of the net. As it inched beyond the line and into the corner of the goal, the ball and the North Carolina women’s soccer team’s season came to its final rest. It was all over. The Tar Heels had been knocked of the NCAA Tournament with a 2-1 overtime loss to Princeton on Sunday in the Sweet 16. It was just the 13th NCAA loss in program history.

Andrzejewski, Scarpa connect in final seconds to tie No. 24 Notre Dame in regular season finale

For the majority of the No. 4 North Carolina women’s soccer team’s game against No. 24 Notre Dame on Thursday night, the Tar Heels were outplayed, out-hustled and were dangerously close to suffering their first ACC loss of the season. However, all the Tar Heels needed was to borrow some luck from the Irish, as Bridgette Andrzejewski’s equalizing header with under 20 seconds left prevented the defeat, ultimately leading to a 1-1 draw in the final regular season game.
