Rural residents to gain high-speed internet after year of initial work by Lumos Fiber

This past April, Orange County began a partnership with Lumos Fiber to bring broadband or high-speed internet service to homes and businesses that previously struggled with internet access. Since then, Lumos has begun initial work to increase access to residents throughout the year. The project is expected to reach 28,000 homes and businesses, including 6,400 locations that previously had little to no internet service.

North Carolina’s third matchup against Florida State may prove to be one of the toughest, and most telling, games the team will play, and will serve to define the season as a whole. In order to emerge victorious and have a chance at inching one step closer to claiming the program's first national title in 10 years, UNC will have to dig deep and play with the principles that have taken the team to this point.

A year in review: reflecting on the old and the new

2022 brought both old and new to the UNC and greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro community. History repeated itself through championship runs and midterm elections, while the lifting of COVID restrictions saw UNC students return to the classroom without a mask requirement for the first time since the spring of 2020.  The Daily Tar Heel has put together a collection of the biggest stories from throughout the year for our audience.
