Annual Carolina Jazz Festival to be virtual, connect high schoolers to professionals

The annual Carolina Jazz Festival will be held online from Thursday, Feb. 18 to Saturday, Feb. 20, kicking off with livestream concerts by University faculty and students. For high school students, there will be open clinics, coaching sessions and a competition with cash prizes. “I think it says a lot about Dr. Anderson's dedication and thoughts about serving the student communities that he has stuck it through,” UNC Jazz Band Director Rahsaan Barber said. “And I think we've actually created something that is going to be uniquely positive.”

WXYC DJs keep the music, community flowing 24/7

The staff of WXYC is working to preserve the station's culture and core values amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The student-run radio station has allowed some student DJs to broadcast from home, while others come into the studio alone to broadcast.

The Meet the Moment Art Walk on Franklin Street is a new project focusing on civic engagment and social justice messages. The main goal is to motivate Chapel Hill residents to participate in the upcoming election.
