A recent survey showed that most Chapel Hill Transit users echo Alston’s sentiment. Of 1,675 randomly sampled riders, 88 percent rated the overall quality of transit service as excellent or good. Eighty-six percent of 418 residents surveyed by phone also expressed satisfaction with the service.
In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, The Daily Tar Heel is showcasing three local organizations and their efforts to combat violence. Domestic violence is defined as a pattern of violent or controlling behavior used against a family member or partner to gain power.
After being sober for three months, recovering alcoholic Robin Johnson is now seeing things from the other side of the spectrum. Johnson is now a part-time employee at the Freedom House Recovery Center where he found his way to sobriety.
Though operating food trucks in Chapel Hill is not illegal, the regulations placed on them hardly make it worth the trouble for some truck operators. Town spokeswoman Catherine Lazorko said in an e-mail that Chapel Hill regulates food trucks and their applications closely.
