During their Tuesday meeting, the Carrboro Town Council discussed appointments to Carrboro's Greenways Commission, the master plan for the Westwood Cemetery and the use of gas-powered landscaping equipment.
On Sept. 13, U.S. District Court Judge Andrew Hanen ruled the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, commonly known as DACA, illegal. In light of this decision, many undocumented students on UNC’s campus are worried their deferred status may be revoked.
This graduation rate an increase from the previous year’s 94.5 percent and is higher than the state average of 86 percent. The district also reported a 71.1 percent passing rate on all state exams, the highest in the Triangle area, and two-thirds of schools in the district receiving an A or B school performance grade. Both of these statistics are higher than the state averages.

Carrboro's Community Safety Task Force held its first listening session on July 17 at the Marian Cheek Jackson Center. The task force, which was created in April 2021, aims to take steps to give recommendations to the Town Council that will promote racial equity in policing and public safety locally.
Two bills currently in the NCGA — Senate Bills 747 and 749 — propose provisions that would change election processes for this fall and beyond. The bills propose changing voter ID requirements and the makeup of state and county boards of elections.
On June 23, the Town of Chapel Hill received a Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity grant for $1,000,000. This grant will allow Chapel Hill to work to improve local greenways and create new transportation projects.
