'Proud that he was from here': First Black U.S. congressman's North Carolina roots

“Hearing stories from history is tough,” Leisa Greathouse, a content and development historian with the North Carolina History Center on the Civil War, Emancipation and Reconstruction, said. “But as you keep reading you find someone like Hiram Revels, and you feel a glimmer of light shining that gives hope, when those little bits of progress come to fruition.”

NCDHHS initiative to support agricultural workers' technology access receives $6 million

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services received a grant from the National Institute of Health to support agricultural workers' access to digital resources. Natalie Rivera, the project's manager, said the initiative has two overall goals — improve telehealth opportunities and create accessible broadband services for agricultural workers.
