UNC student Christopher Ryan Spencer was arrested at 105 Timber Hollow Ct., apartment 324 at 1:12 a.m. this morning.

In the early hours of Friday morning, Chapel Hill police were called in to investigate a domestic dispute between Spencer and an unnamed female. After observing that the victim had minor but visible injuries, police attempted to arrest Spencer, who resisted.

Spokesman for the Chapel Hill Police Department, Sgt. Joshua Mecimore, said he believed the victim was taken to UNC Hospitals to be checked out, but he was unsure of her condition at the time.

He said Spencer actively resisted arrest and attempted to fight officers at the scene.

“Officers were called to a disturbance and, based on their investigation, determined that there was probable cause to believe that Mr. Spencer had punched a female victim,” Mecimore said.

“One (officer) had some minor abrasions that came from concrete as they were trying to arrest him.”

Following his arrest, Spencer was transported to the Orange County Jail where he is being held on $2,000 bond. Mecimore said the latest he will likely see a judge is 2 p.m. today.

“Because it’s likely a domestic charge, I don’t know that they would allow him to post the bond,” Mecimore said.

Spencer faces charges of assault on a female, resisting arrest and interfering with emergency communications, all misdemeanors.
