Gary Kahn: Candidate for Chapel Hill Town Council

Kahn is a newcomer

With less than a week until Election Day, The Daily Tar Heel spoke with the Chapel Hill Town Council candidates to discuss major issues facing the council. Election Day is Nov. 5.

Candidate name: Gary Kahn

Age: 57

Daily Tar Heel: What is the biggest issue facing the Town of Chapel Hill?

Gary Kahn: Where we should develop and what we should develop. There has recently been a lot of hostility towards development and we need to look at development as a change for the better.

DTH: In an IndyWeek questionare you said you would “gather up all the homeless” and put them in a shelter. Can you expand more on this plan? How would you gather them?

Kahn: What I meant was have the police pick up the homeless and drop them off to the nearest homeless shelter either in Chapel hill or Durham.

DTH: What type of community experience do you have that prepares you to be the best for the job?

Kahn: Ever since I moved here two years ago I have been to nearly every Town Council meeting. I have been very vocal on many issues and I have gotten to know the Mayor and city staff well. I feel that this prepares me very well for the job.
