Culbreth Middle School has been named a state Honor School of Excellence.
Though originally labeled a School of Distinction, an error was found in the middle school’s testing report.
The school filed an appeal to the status in July, and the N.C. Board of Education, which met last week, changed the school’s designation.
More than 90 percent of its students attained levels of proficiency on the End-of-Grade Tests and made “Adequate Yearly Progress” under the federal No Child Left Behind program.
