Mark Perry is not a native North Carolinian. After years in the state, he has fallen in love with the cast of characters surrounding him in the college town of Chapel Hill. The Dramatic Arts lecturer has been teaching at UNC since 2005 where he started with a single class. After a couple of years, he started teaching playwriting.

UNC launched “For All Kind: The Campaign for Carolina” today with a kickoff event in Polk Place. A fundraising campaign aiming to raise $4.25 billion by the end of 2022, Campaign for Carolina marks the largest campaign in the school’s history and the second largest among public universities in the country. Its goals are, among other things, to eliminate financial barriers to education and improve the arts at UNC.

Over the past month, the UNC Research Opportunities Initiative has awarded a total of $6.2 million in grants to three research teams focusing on hybrid materials, data science and green fuels.
