Men's Golf Takes 6th At Duke Golf Classic

The North Carolina men's golf team fired a 293 in the final round of the Duke Golf Classic and finished in sixth place with a total of 886.

The event was played at Duke Golf Club, which is a par 72.

UNC freshman Dustin Bray tied for 10th place, the best individual finish for the Tar Heels. He carded a 4-over 220 with a 1-over 73 in the final round. Senior Rob Simmons finished strong for the Tar Heels with a 1-under-71 but still ended the classic tied for 24th at 223.

N.C. State won the tournament with a team score of 290 in the final round and an 876 overall mark.

McCann Nabs Player Honors

North Carolina senior Kristen McCann earned her third ACC player of the week honor of the season after scoring seven goals last week.

McCann scored the game-winner in two of the third-ranked Tar Heels' three victories last week.

The senior forward is UNC's leading scorer this season with 22 goals, eight more than her total in all of last season. She ranks seventh on UNC's career goal list with 54 and seventh in career points with 120.

Tar Heels Move Up in Rankings

The North Carolina women's soccer team climbed to No. 2 after former

No. 1 Nebraska's 2-1 loss to unranked Oklahoma on Sunday.

Undefeated Notre Dame (15-0-0) moved into the top spot for the first time this season, and the Cornhuskers (15-1-0) fell to No. 5.

The Tar Heels (12-1-0) defeated N.C. State 3-0 on Wednesday and face Florida State today at 7 p.m. in Tallahassee, Fla.
