UNC's Tennis Team Releases Schedule

The North Carolina men's tennis team recently released the squad's 2001 fall schedule. The Tar Heels open their season at the Southern Collegiates Tournament in Athens, Ga., Sept. 21-23.

After several Intercollegiate Tennis Association-sponsored events, UNC will head to Columbia, S.C., for the USC Fall Invitational on Oct. 19.

North Carolina's only home match will be from Oct. 24-28 in the Top of the Hill Region Championships.

UNC Swimmers Star in Classroom

The College Swimming Coaches Association of America has named the North Carolina men's and women's swimming and diving teams as

All-Academic team award winners for the spring semester of 2001.

Last spring, the UNC men's swimming and diving team had a cumulative grade point average of 3.1656, while the Tar Heel women's swimming and diving squad had an aggregate GPA of 3.09.

The women's squad has been named an All-Academic Team for 22 semesters in a row by the CSCAA. The men have earned the distinction in 18 of the past 22 semesters of graded work.

Forty-nine Tar Heel swimmers and divers earned at least a 3.0 grade point average during the 2001 spring semester.
