Terrapins Snap Volleyball's Win Streak

The loss snaps UNC's 13-game win streak, but the Tar Heels remain atop the ACC with a 9-1 conference record.

North Carolina is 17-4 overall. With the win, Maryland improves to 10-9, 6-5 in conference action.

Rowing Takes 14th Place

BOSTON -- Behind senior coxswain Kelley Gates, the North Carolina rowing squad finished 14th overall and ninth among U.S. colleges in the Championship Fours race Sunday afternoon at the Head of the Charles Regatta on Boston's Charles River.

The Tar Heels joined 6,000 other competitors on the Charles River for the largest two-day rowing event in the world.

"The team had an awesome race," said UNC coach Joel Furtek.

"They rowed to the occasion, with a good effort in pretty rough conditions. We feel very good about the performance."

Tar Heels Play in USC Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C. -- North Carolina's men's tennis team continued its successful play Saturday at the USC Fall Invitational. All 10 UNC squad members are competing in the three day tournament in either the A-1 or B-1 singles flight.

Four Tar Heels advanced to the quarterfinals of the A Flight with victories on Saturday morning.
