6 p.m. -- The School of Public Health, Carolina Union Activities Board and UNC Great Decisions present World AIDS Week's keynote speaker, Asha Sekhri. Sekhri is president and founder of the South Asia Against AIDS Foundation and will share her thoughts on AIDS and how you, as a world citizen, can take international action to address this cause. The event will be held in 111 Carroll Hall.
7 p.m. -- The Sonja H. Stone Black Cultural Center is hosting, "The Dispossession of the Black Seminole (Estelusti): The Laws of Slavery in the 21st Century," a forum on race, justice and human rights.
Joining us to discuss the case are Jonathan Velie, lead attorney for the plaintiffs in the land claims lawsuit of the Estelusti; Wayne Thompson, lead consultant to the Seminole Nation in its mineral rights claim against the United States and its chief negotiator between the Estelusti and the Seminole Nation in the case; and moderator Natsu Saito, associate professor of law at Georgia State University and author of several law review articles on the case.
The event will take place in 101 Greenlaw Hall.
