TO THE EDITOR:
Erin Fornoff's column "State of Mind Reflects Home in Mountains" was a nice, refreshing look at life in western North Carolina. Being a western North Carolinian myself, I totally agree with the "mountain mentality" and how life seems to move just a little slower and people seem not to worry as much about trival things. As mentioned in her column, that is certainly a lesson that the administration at this university could benefit from. If I learned anything from living in western North Carolina, it is that despite what others may say, bigger is not always better, and being "number one" is not always the best position. From issues dealing with a school in Qatar to tuition increases to student parking, this university is doing a good job alienating the very people it is suppose to serve. I love Chapel Hill, and I love this university, but I am looking forward to the day I can go back to western North Carolina where the sky is just a little bluer and the the stars shine a little brighter.
