Letter Writer Regrets Comments Made About Commencement

I am terribly sorry for wasting everyone's time last week. I submitted a collection of incomplete thoughts that when taken together were capable of being interpreted in a nasty way. ("UNC Class of 2002 Will Receive 'Slap in the Face' At Commencement," Readers' Forum, Jan. 14). This was not my intention. The letter did not convey my intentions of humor and dissatisfaction in any shape or form. Instead, when presented in this half-brained manner, my thoughts were particularly offensive to Professor Stone as well as others. I did not want, nor mean to, insult Professor Stone, his class or anyone else on this campus, however I realize now that my letter did just that. I regret this incident and would take it all back if it was possible.
