Moeser's Attempt To Change UNC-CH Is 'Ludicrous'

I wanted to respond to Kate Hartig's editorial, "Wasting Time" (Jan. 9). I recently became aware of the monumental, not to mention ludicrous, attempt to change the UNC-CH abbreviation to something, shall we say, a little more prestigious. I want to applaud Hartig for having the gumption to question the actions and motives of Chancellor Moeser and other University officials. How much would it cost the University to reprint every letterhead for every department, school, etc. (not even mentioning all the wasted trees)? I am sure it would cost no more than another tuition increase.

Chancellor Moeser, and all the other decision makers, I challenge you not only to become more in tune with the student body but with reality in general. I thought the UNC-CH chancellor would be more concerned with increasing the students' overall knowledge while reducing the overall cost rather than spending valuable time worrying that someone might mistake UNC-CH for something less than what it is. This University has bigger issues, and one need not look further than South Building to find one.
