UNC Honor Societies Looking for Individuals Who Make a Difference

You know the type. The student for whom success in the classroom is not enough. The student who goes above and beyond the call of duty, the student for whom excellence is second nature -- in community service or leadership positions, on the athletic field or the stage, in music or in writing. You probably know several faculty, staff, and alumni who have made a major impact at Carolina as well.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has a rich tradition of excellence built largely by outstanding contributions to the University made by students, faculty, staff members and alumni. Honorary societies at UNC recognize those who have made such contributions.

You can help identify members of the University community who have demonstrated excellence by nominating them for recognition by the Order of the Golden Fleece, the Order of the Grail-Valkryies, the Order of the Old Well, the Society of Janus Chapter of the National Residence Hall Honorary or the Frank Porter Graham Graduate and Professional Student Honor Society. Brief descriptions of each organization are available on its respective nomination form and online at http://www.unc.edu/ogf.

If you know someone who fits one or more of the qualifications listed, please fill out a nomination form available at the front desk in the Union or Davis Library. You can easily download forms from www.unc.edu/ogf. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Feb. 1 to the Office of Honoraries and Awards, Room 201, Carolina Union CB #5210 Chapel Hill, NC 27599-5210. Please take the time to recognize these deserving individuals.
